Dr. Alan Abando
Alan Abando, M.D., graduated cum laude from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He earned his medical degree with alpha omega alpha honors from Chicago’s Rush Medical College and completed his general surgery residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital, which is affiliated with the University of Southern California (USC). Based on his remarkable work, Dr. Abando was asked by his mentors to join their group, which focused on minimally invasive bariatric surgery. He worked for two years at Huntington Memorial Hospital, an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery designated Center of Excellence. Also during those two years Dr. Abando was a volunteer teaching faculty member for Huntington Memorial Hospital’s general surgery residency program.

Dr. Abando is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the following associations:
