Preparing for Your First Appointment
If you're seriously considering surgical weight loss treatment to control obesity, our surgeons would like to evaluate whether you are an appropriate candidate in a one-on-one consultation. Here are a few suggestions to make this visit go smoothly:
- On the day of your consultation to discuss your options for obesity surgery, please arrive at our Austin-area, Cedar Park office 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
- Bring your bariatric surgery questionnaire, personal identification card, insurance card, and the information of your primary care physician, including phone and fax number.
- Please bring test results with you such as x-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, cardiac testing and lab results.
- If, for any reason, you are not able to attend your appointment, please call our office at (512) 260-3444 at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to let us know.

Financing and Insurance Information for Obesity Surgery
When contemplating weight loss surgery, cost is an important factor. Cedar Park Surgeons, PA is contracted with most major insurance companies to make our services accessible to most people. Here are some general qualifications insurance companies look for when deciding whether to cover an individual:
- Weight loss surgery is a benefit of the patient's plan.
- The surgery will reduce or eliminate co-morbidities.
- A physician has designated the surgery as "medically necessary."
- Patient has attempted weight loss through non-surgical methods (diet, exercise).
- Patient meets other requirements outlined in coverage plan.
Our office staff has valuable experience working with insurance providers to obtain coverage for the surgery when it's a benefit of the plan.
