Our bariatric surgeons, Alan Abando, M.D. and Nicole Basa, M.D., are certified by the American Board of Surgery. They have a strong background in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgeries, which are becoming increasingly popular among bariatric and general surgery patients. Drs. Abando and Basa attended medical school in Chicago and completed their surgical residencies in the Los Angeles area. Dr. Abando performed bariatric surgery for two years at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena, California, an American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery designated Center of Excellence. Dr. Basa received further specialized training in bariatric surgery while completing a fellowship in Bariatrics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, also a designated American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery designated Center of Excellence.
