Abando and Basa attended medical school in Chicago and completed their surgical residencies in the Los Angeles area. Dr. Abando performed bariatric surgery for two years at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena, California, an American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery designated Center of Excellence.
